Lutheran Schools: Making Disciples for Life - presentation by Becky Schmidt, Director of LCMS School Ministry
The Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod, founded in 1847, began with twelve churches operating nineteen schools. During the past 172 years, in the often tumultuous and everchanging landscape of education, one thing remains certain, Lutheran schools today continue to provide excellence in education while sowing the seeds of faith in children, their families, and the communities they serve with the beautiful Gospel message of “Jesus and His love.”

• interaction with fellow retired Lutheran educators
• updates on activities and opportunities provided by organizations aimed at retired church workers
• presentation about mentoring opportunities through LEA's Grow a Teacher project

1:00-5:00 "Brew in the Lou" festival
The St. Louis-based Lutheran Elementary School Association (LESA) will host the 7th Annual "Brew in the Lou" Festival at Francis Park in the St. Louis Hills neighborhood from 1-5 pm. Convocation attendees are offered a special discounted admission of only $35 for the afternoon if included with Convocation registration.
Wristbands include live entertainment, unlimited tastings of St. Louis' best beer, wine, spirits, coffee, BBQ, desserts, and a commemorative glass. More than 100 vendors including breweries, restaurants, and food and craft artisans line the banks of The Lily Pond, including nearly 45 local and regional craft breweries. 2018 photos here. Tasters can vote for their favorite brats, home brew, and chili recipes.
Proceeds from "Brew in the Lou" will benefit more than 33 member Lutheran schools serving 500 faculty members and 8,500 students in the bi-state area. For more information, please call 314-200-0797.
